Root canal therapy in Hawthorne

Hawthorne root canal

Root canal therapy can be the deciding factor in whether or not you get to keep your tooth. It's a non-surgical procedure, and despite the unfair reputation it has gotten, we at the office of Anna J. Huh, D.M.D. can assure you that most of our patients report very little to no discomfort during the treatment. Advanced techniques and equipment have made the process much easier.

Our Hawthorne root canal becomes necessary when an infection sets in down inside at the base of your tooth. That part is called the pulp, and it resides next to the nerve. Ordinarily, your tooth's enamel and dentin layers protect the inner tooth from bacteria, but cavities, especially large ones, loose or lost fillings, and chipped or cracked teeth breach the barriers and leave your pulp vulnerable. Typically, you will experience pain, and that can become excruciating if the infection is particularly bad. Tooth sensitivity is common, too. Less so are tooth discoloration and gum tenderness, but they are undeniably signs that our Hawthorne root canal should be performed. Without prompt care, you would end up losing the tooth, creating complications that go along with an incomplete smile. If you get treatment in a timely manner, there is a 90% or better chance of success. You will be numbed with local anesthesia prior to the procedure so that you will not have undue discomfort. The pulp and nerve are removed, the canals cleaned and disinfected, and then sealed. After full healing, the final step is having impressions taken for the fashioning of a crown to restore the tooth to full size and function.

Our Hawthorne root canal is an essential treatment, so don't hesitate to call us right away when you notice one or more signs that you require one. The sooner you act, the more likely the outcome will be a positive one.
